Yes Thylacines exist. I know the Tas government knows they exist. The Parks season ranger saw one and went to the media. He was no longer offered work. I believe they would be rather annoyed at having to set aside more land for the protection of the 2 (at least) remnant populations of Thylacine. The areas that need protection for the survival of the species are earmarked for logging as it is the forest bordering farm land that is valued for logging and also happens to be the ideal habitat of the thylacene. The poor soils of these areas has enabled it to range widely without detection as prior to now logging and farming opperations have yielded poor returns. The pressure is increasing on these areas with plans to build and feed a pulp mill on the Tamar River. Forestry Tas currently aerial drops baits in the regions it plans to log some weeks prior to logging. This I believe is to erradicate any animals which may trigger a protective responce from workers or greens. I believe we must protect the habitats of the Thylacine by being vague about the locations of sightings for now. We also need to protect our state by breaking up the corrupt coduct of the government with an Independant Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) such as exists in other states. Then we can properly protect the thylacine and other similar threatened species.
