Hello Everyone,I stumbled across this web site while searching for information on motor racing at Longford in the 50's and 60's! I have been very keen to view a live Thylacine, ever since becoming aware of them, and hearing verbal accounts of their sightings. Alas, so far I have not spotted one! Could I make a suggestion for the web site? A map of Tasmania, plotted with every Thylacine sighting ever recorded, officially and unofficially, with details of exact location and year of sighting. I'd just like to second thylcn's suggestion. But remember, there have been very many mainland sightings over the past 100 years too. In the early 20th century field naturalists released captured thylacines on Wilson's Promontory and at other more or less suitable sites on the mailand. Some of these releases seem to have led to small localised populations becoming established where no thylacine had lived since the advent of the dingo some 4,000 years ago.So maybe a map showing mainland sightings like the one in Paul Cropper and Tony Healy's "Out of the Shadows" would be useful to site visitors. Could I also suggest a few links to relevant cryptid sites such as www.arfra.org, www.thylacoleo.com, Col Bailey's site and other, more mainstream sites such as Cameron campbell's excellent "The Thylacine Museum" at www.naturalworlds.org/thylacine/index.htm. We don't currently have a map, but we'll look for one. As soon as we find it we'll set it up on the website.Joan IP: Logged |

We are working on a map with sightings. Also, if you want to copy/print any of the pics on either the Ebook or elsewhere, point on the pic and right click...then do what you want. This comes from our webmaster. Joan IP: Logged |

Hi,Why not use Google Earth (http://earth.google.com) to mark out the locations and dates of sightings, and start up a keyhole BBS (http://bbs.keyhole.com) and link it to this site .... that would make a great resource. IP: Logged |

I will set this up as i know Google earth fairly well. Can someone send me all sighting reports so i can begin this work straight away. The files will be open source in respect...I can also set up a file repository for pics, vids, documents etc... that can be accessed by everyone... In fact that could easily be done from this site if there is a spare msyql space on the server??? If the web master needs help in regard please email me @ jsinclair... at...shiftreload.com.au IP: Logged |

I have the Google map ready for anyone but I can't seem to post it here, so send me mail and I will send it to you.... Also anyone can add their own positions easily and update the map, so it will be a community map in respect.... May i suggest we add a rating system? I have used sightings that I consider strong from the reports (More than one person, clear sighting, descriptive, park rangers etc...) I have also tried to add comments to the sightings... If the web master can put the file online then I will hand it over or we can start a google community on it...IP: Logged |
